When is Super Bowl 2021? Start time, location, odds, halftime show for Super Bowl 55

    By xa1
  • NFL American Football The NFL definitely has a thing for Florida when it comes to Super Bowls, which makes sense. Just gotta cross your fingers that the rain stays away for one night.Super Bowl 55 will take place in Tampa, Florida, at the home of the Buccaneers, one year after Miami Gardens played host to Super Bowl 54, which was won by Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs. Tom Brady, now a Buccaneer himself, will clash with the defending champions in 2021's big game. Tampa Bay is the first team in Super Bowl history to play in its home stadium. There will also be the COVID-19 pandemic and its implications hanging over the game.If 2020 has taught us anything, it's to roll with the punches. It seems nearly impossible that the NFL would allow its showcase event to be canceled, so expect the league to take that approach and just plow forward. At worst, everyone can sit at home, listen to Tony Romo's brilliant color commentary on CBS and judge Roger Goodell's mask during the trophy presentation.  Below is everything you need to know about the Super Bowl in 2021, the 55th iteration of what has grown into America's biggest sporting event.SUPER BOWL PICKS: Against the spread | Straight-up predictionsWhen is Super Bowl 2021?Date: Sunday, Feb. 7, 2021Kickoff time: 6:30 p.m. (unofficial)TV channel: CBSLive stream: CBS All Access | fuboTV[......]

NLCS Game 6: Must-see story lines with Dodgers-Cardinals series on the line

    By xa1
  • Here's a radical idea. Let's stop talking about this insane, blown-way-out-of-proportion nonsense about the St. Louis Cardinals way (painted as stodgy guardians) vs. the Los Angeles Dodgers way (painted as the fun-loving, devil-may-care team). Both caricatures are only loosely rooted in truth. And this garbage about some vast gap between the fans in St. Louis and the fans in Los Angeles? Baloney. This is true lowest common denominator stuff here, folks. Tonight is Game 6. Tonight, we're going to be treated to an incredible pitching matchup between L.A. ace Clayton Kershaw, who has a 0.47 ERA in the playoffs, and St. Louis rookie Michael Wacha, who has a 0.64 ERA in October.MORE: First pitch 8:37 ET | Mouse ears issue | ALCS goes to Game 6 Isn't that enough? It definitely should be, but here are six other legitimate storylines for Game 6 tonight at Busch Stadium.1. What will the Dodgers get out of their banged-up stars? Hanley Ramirez is hampered by the rib injury from being drilled by a Joe Kelly fastball in Game 1, and Andre Ethier's ankle isn't 100 percent. Ethier is hitting .176 in the series and his range in center field is painfully limited. If Ramirez, especially, has been significantly helped by the day off, health-wise, that's a huge boost for the Dodgers. He hit .345 in the regular season and .500 in the NLDS against the Braves — with six extra-base hits and six RBIs in those four games — but is batting .167 with a pair of singles against the Cardinals.2. Spring flooding? Toilets at A's stadium overflow again

    By xa1
  • Just in time for opening day, the toilets at the Oakland Athletics' home field are raising a stink once again.Rain this weekend in Oakland caused plumbing at to overflow, spreading wastewater in restrooms and coaches' offices. Workers were mopping and sopping up the mess Saturday. The A's play their first game of the 2014 season on Monday at O.co Coliseum, a dated facility that is not among the best in baseball."We didn't even make to opening day," a player told Susan Slusser, the A's beat writer for the San Francisco Chronicl夜网论坛e. "Gives you something to tweet about today at least," a worker told her. While social media helped spread word of the mess, A's coach Mike Gallago posted video as effluent flowed from shower drains and porcelain thrones. It is not a unique situation. Drains flooded before, including last September. That was reportedly the third time it happened during the 2013 season. After a June 2013 mess, A's pitcher A.J. Griffin told The Associated Press: ''Make sure everybody finds out about this sewage thing. We need to get a new stadium.''No question.By the way, Slusser also noted the forecast doesn't look good for Monday's game.[......]

Red Sox 2014: Don't be surprised if Boston repeats

    By xa1
  • This is the latest of our 30 team previews, which will run through March 30.When asked last spring to predict the order of finish in the American League East, Boston Red Sox manager John Farrell joked that he wanted a hat and five slips of paper. The talent in the division, Farrell said, was that closely matched; the pennant winner could be any of the five. Then Farrell offered a caveat: There was no reason his new team, a Red Sox squad that had finished last in 2012, couldn’t win the division despite the national consensus that they were headed for fifth place again.Farrell and his boys made good on his suggestion: winning 97 games, the American League East, home-field advantage throughout the playoffs and, eventually, the 2013 World Series in six games over the St. Louis Cardinals. It was Boston’s third championship in 10 seasons, but this one was a little different. Several of the key faces — most buried in unruly beards by the end of October — were acquired after the Red Sox purged their roster during the 2012 campaign.David Ortiz (AP Photo) 2014: Impact rookies | Breakout candidatesMike Napoli, Shane Victorino, Jonny Gomes, David Ross and Koji Uehara were added for 2013 and played important roles down the stretch with their new club. More important, they fit in seamlessly with holdovers such as David Ortiz, Dustin Pedroia, Jon Lester and Clay Buchholz. That core is returning, making the Red Sox the prohibitive AL East favorite in 2014 — no pulling names from a[......]

Three weeks separated contenders from pretenders in the NL East

    By xa1
  • At the end of games on June 20, the NL East was a bit crowded. The Atlanta Braves were in first place by a half-game over the Washington Nationals and a full game over the Miami Marlins with a 38-35 record. The New York Mets were in last place, just five-and-a-half games out of first place and two games back of the fourth-place Philadelphia Phillies. Three weeks later, the division has a very different feel. The Braves still sit atop the East, a game-and-a-half ahead of the Nationals, but the Marlins are seven games out, the Mets are 10 games back and the Phillies are 11 behind the Braves. Those last three teams combined to go 12-27 over that stretch. That's a pretty quick dispersal. So what happened? "Miami, despite an amazing start and beautiful play at home, is having a hard time keeping up, with their young players," Ron Darling told Sporting News. "I think the Mets and Philadelphia have inherent problems that they're trying to overcome, that's going to make it difficult to stay up with the Nationals and the Braves."Darling, of course, knows this division well. The former All-Star pitcher has been a Mets analyst with SNY for the past nine years, and he's about to kick off another year as a national TBS analyst. Sunday brings the season's first TBS broadcast, when Darling joins Ernie Johnson and夜网论坛 Cal Ripken for the New York Yankees-Minnesota Twins game at 2 p.m. ET.The Mets and Phillies share territory near the division cellar, and neither has a realistic chance o[......]
