Patriots get Michael Floyd, or another Brandon Lloyd

By xa1
  • Night net The Patriots are always ready to pounce when another Night net team moves on from a talented but troubled player.Their latest such addition came on Thursday, when they claimed former Cardinals wide receiver MIchael Floyd off waivers. It had been a tumultuous week for Floyd, which started with his arrest on drunken driven charges and his coach in Arizona, Bruce Arians, having zero tolerance for his misstep. Now he's with Bill Belichick in New England, or the league's house of sudden reformation. The Patriots' best reclamation case in point is running back LeGarette Blount (twice), who this year has rushed for a career-high 1,029 yards and 14 TDs at age 30.Floyd is only 27 and should have been in his prime for the Cardinals as ideal speedy big-playmaker in their downfield passing offense. But since his breakout second season in '13 as a first-rounder from Notre Dame, he's faded, struggling with drops and route running in the Arians era. MORE: Week 15 Night net picks against the spreadThe occasional home run threat was even gone in '16, as Floyd's yards-per-catch dropped to 13.5, worse since his rookie year. At 6-3, 220, Floyd has always looked the part of the next great field-stretching outside receiver. This year, however, he let 5-10, 156-pound second-year dasher J.J. Nelson speed past him on the depth chart. That made the decision to discipline him with a cut easier. The Patriots have had to blow up th[......]

Shooter found guilty in Will Smith murder trial

    By xa1
  • Night net null The man who shot and killed former New Orleans Saints defensive end Will Smith after an April 9 traffic accident has been found guilty of manslaughter.NOLA.com reports that a New Orleans jury reached the verdict Sunday night against Cardell Hayes. The 29-year-old tow truck driver faces 20-40 years in prison on the charge. He was also found guilty of attempted manslaughter, in the shooting of Smith's wife, Racquel, who survived. The defense had sought convictions for second-degree murder and attempted second-degree murder. But after deliberating for more than five hours Sunday night until after 10 p.m., the jury reached a 10-2 verdict on manslaughter in both cases. Louisiana requires at least 10 of 12 jurors to agree to reach a conviction.Hayes w夜网论坛ill be sentenced in February. Should a team make a trade for Tony Romo?

    By xa1
  • Night net null If a team is inclined to trade for Tony Romo this offseason, former quarterback Joe Theismann would advise them not to."Any general manager that would make a deal for Tony Romo shouldn't keep their job as general manager," Theismann said on Bleacher Report Radio. "It's a bad business decision, plus what offensive line is going to be the same one he has in Dallas? "I think Tony Romo stays a Dallas Cowboy. He's got a $24 million cap, you negotiate that down to a number that's palatable for the team. If Dak [Prescott] gets hurt, he goes and plays, and you put incentives in if he does play. To me, Tony Romo's got to be a Dallas Cowboy to the end of his career."MORE: Cowboys atop Week 13 Power Rankings Theismann's initial stance is obviously strong, but he makes some good points. While it would make sense for Dallas to try and get value in return for him, it doesn't make sense for another team to jump at the opportunity to get him.Romo has had several injuries in recent years and will turn 37 by the time next season comes around. There's not a huge market for an expensive, injury-prone veteran quarterback, so it would make sense for him to continue to mentor Pr夜网论坛escott in Dallas as he finishes out his career. This obviously wouldn't be a happy ending to Romo's time in the league, but sometimes that's just life in th[......]

Jaguars fire Gus Bradley, want to 'reward loyal, patient fan base' with next coach

    By xa1
  • Night net Gus Bradley traveled to Houston as Jacksonville's head coach. He will return home unemployed. The Jaguars announced the firing of their head coach shortly after they lost to the Texans, 21-20, after blowing a nine-point lead in the fourth quarter. MORE: How the Jags lostBradley reportedly was traveling back to Jacksonville on the team charter despite the announcement. "I thanked Gus Bradley today for his commitment to the Jacksonville Jaguars over the past four seasons," Jaguars owner Shad Khan said, via the team's release. "As anyone close to our team knows, Gus gave his staff and players literally everything he had. Our players competed for Gus and I know they have great respect for him, as do I."Gus also represented the Jaguars, the Jacksonville community and the Night net in nothing less than a first-class manner as our head coach. That counts for a lot. It is unfortunately evident that we must make a change. I thought it would be best to do it immediately after today’s result so Gus can step away, relax and regroup with his family during the Christmas and holiday season."Dave Caldwell agreed and will now be charged with exploring all options to hire the best head coach possible to lead what I feel is an extremely talented team and reward a very loyal and patient fan base in Jacksonville."The "extremely talented team" to which Khan refers was predicted by some to compete for an AFC Sout夜网论坛h title in 20[......]

Jets' return to Ryan Fitzpatrick a dull decision that had to be made

    By xa1
  • Night net The Jets are one-and-done with sitting Ryan Fitzpatrick. Coach Todd Bowles announced Monday that Fitzpatrick will return as the team's starting quarterback for Sunday's Week 12 home game against the Patriots. The decision smells of desperation for 3-7 New York, which has no chance to make the playoffs in 2016. Unfortunately, it's the only decision Bowles could make. MORE: Updated Night net playoff pictureFitzpatrick, who was battling a knee injury, did not start in Week 10 before the bye. Bryce Petty replaced him, and the Jets' offense went further inept in a 9-6 home loss to Los Angeles. Petty, after a good start, was overwhelmed by the Rams' defense and relied mostly on checkdowns. Geno Smith, after his season-ending knee injury (torn right ACL), is no longer an option. Neither is rookie second-round pick Christian Hackenberg, who has struggled to the point of not being able to get practice reps and is far from gameday-ready, even as a backup. If the Jets viewed Petty, their 2015 fourth-rounder, as a potential QB of the future, they would want to see what he can do over the final six games. Clearly, they don't.But there's another layer to all of this, on top of the Jets being in a no-win situation with their Fitzpatrick alternatives.WATCH: Maccagnan discusses Jets' strugglesBowles is firmly on the coaching hot seat, and he can only save his job with a strong finish to the season that creates promise fo[......]
