  • About two-and-a-half months into the 2014 season, we explore some developments we did not see coming in spring training (all stats through Wednesday) …Plenty of teams have dealt with unfair injury issues this season. The Rangers can’t seem to keep anyone healthy. The Rays have had their season decimated by disabled list transactions. That injury blight has settled over Colorado the past few weeks, and it’s derailed very promising seasons. Nolan Arenado, owner of a 28-game hitting streak earlier this year, went on the DL May 24 with a fractured left middle finger. Carlos Gonzalez, coming off back-to-b夜网论坛ack All-Star seasons, went on the DL June 4 with a finger issue, too. Michael Cuddyer, who is hitting .317, went on the DL June 9 with a non-displaced fracture in his left shoulder socket (ouch); it’s his second DL stint of the season.If you’re counting, that’s three of the Rockies’ eight positional starters on currently shelved. Those three have combined for a .289 average when healthy, and their losses have been felt on the diamond. When Arenado was injured, Colorado was 26-22 on the season and four games behind the Giants in the NL West. Now, the Rockies are 30-35 and 11½ games out.[......]
