Why is Antonio Brown living with Tom Brady? Inside the relationship that led to a Buccaneers reunion

By xa1
  • Night net Buccaneers Antonio Brown is back in the Night net after a tumultuous 2019 season that left him unemployed following a short stint with the Patriots. This time, Brown is with the Buccaneers after some pleading from quarterback Tom Brady. Even though coach Bruce Arians said Brady had nothing to do with Brown signing, the coach didn't shy away from the fact that the quarterback wanted Brown there. "Tom Brady lobbied me back in, gosh, June, July, August," Arians told NBC Sports.Arians said no at the time because he felt the team didn't need Brown. Fast-forward to Week 9, and Brown is now about to start his first game with the Bucs. So what changed? Arians says injuries played a big role. Mike Evans, Chris Godwin and Scotty Miller (the Bucs' top three receivers) have all been injured at some point this season. The team is also without tight end O.J. Howard for the rest of the season. And while Arians may not want to admit it, there's no doubt Brady's presence played a role in Brown's arrival to Tampa Bay. We'll get into the reasons why below.Antonio Brown is living with Tom BradyAntonio Brown lived with Tom Brady during his short time on the Patriots, and the receiver is once again pairing up with the quarterback in Tampa Bay. World Series journal: Baseball's long winter almost here

    By xa1
  • BOSTON — It was only for a brief moment, and I was much more focused on the road in a driving rainstorm at not quite 6 in the morning, but I saw it clearly enough, and I know what I saw.The giant Kansas City Royals logo, shrouded in darkness and rain and maybe a little hail, was most definitely the back of the scoreboard of Kauffman Stadium. Just another ballpark gone quiet for the winter. There are 29 of them now, including the one I left about five hours earlier, Busch Stadium in St. Louis. WORLD SERIES 2013: Best images from the Fall Classic | Game 6 previewThere is definitely one game left, maybe two, in baseball in 2013, with Fenway Park the scene for the conclusion of the World Series. The ballparks won't all be left empty in the winter, because this is 2013, and will be 2014, and in most places, they just don't do empty for the winter anymore, because somewhere along the line there was a discovery that you could use a baseball stadium more than 81 days out of the year, plus playoffs. That discovery was longer ago than it might seem, and the best reminder of that is in Oakland, where the Raiders will play into December at the home of the A's. There still are CFL games to play in Toronto, and a monster truck rally there, too. College football has some bowl games in baseball parks. Hockey games have become a semi-regular feature, and this winter that will even include Dodger Stadium. In Texas, they had a food truck festival last weekend, and a Christian music[......]

World Series 2013: Boston celebrates, gears up for Saturday parade

    By xa1
  • BOSTON — The Red Sox have now won three World Series in the past decade — but not since the days of Babe Ruth had Boston won a fall classic in its beloved Fenway Park. The historic feat sent Boston fans spilling into the streets Wednesday night to celebrate Boston's 6-1 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals in Game 6. Amid the cheers and high-fives, the white lights of Boston's Prudential Tower read "GO SOX." "Words cannot describe how I feel," said Red Sox fan Sam D'Arrigo. "This is what being a Boston fan is all about."The win capped an emotional season for the Red Sox, one heavy with the reminder of the Boston Marathon bombings in April, which left three people dead and more than 260 wounded. Players wore "Boston Strong" logos on their left sleeves and a giant "B Strong" logo was mowed into Fenway's outfield. "We needed this," said Mark Porcaro of Boston. "They were an easy team to get behind because they stood up for us when we needed them most."An excited Boston Mayor Tom Menino tweeted: "Get the ducks ready, we're having a parade." He was referring to the duck boat parades the city had had during previous sports celebrations. After the game, police set up barriers to funnel the crowds away from Fenway Park and mounted police and officers on bicycles patrolled the area. Some fans were obviously intoxicated. A few young men climbed a pole holding a traffic light.A large group gathered near the marathon finish line, chanting and blocking traffic until police arriv[......]
